If God might let me walk the paths of 2014,
(ameen)
then I shall spend it
as a research scholar, a student of life;
I shall learn the tones of voices,
the moods' diction, the words unsaid;
steal the shades from the rainbow stripes,
the colored band,
and make them the ink for my new poems;
I shall snap the spell of silence, and
learn to talk aloud;
sanity will be my targeted objective...
the east sky will energize me
the west sky will be my Major;
I shall learn to break the metaphors
by reading the text of my dreams;
declare myself a soldier hard
against the seven deadly sins;
I shall learn the ways of sages
keeping sailors' vision
in their eyes, under their skins,
yes,
I shall rise and I shall shine
no way but this,
for the stars threatened me on terms,
have put a condition before me
that they won't talk to me
unless I become the leading luminary
brightening up my own horizon! ! !
it is your better poem but you keep it too personal...if you would have generalised it, even with the first person narrative, it would look better, (strictly personal opinion) , otherwise, some phrases are extraordinary, it seems to me that you gear up your tone, then and then, slow down fast.. however, enjoyed the poem...
Time will let you walk the paths of 2014 and four decades more! [ So be it...].. Leave His role in it. We hope to see a stronger Shahzia emerging in 2014 with less scattered thoughts and believe she will paint on her canvas of poetry the bright sketches of life of herself and of others in all its myriad forms. May 2014 and the ensuing years be laid for this poet of poets to walk smooth by the wings of time.... ALL THE BEST SISTER.
excellent writing Shahzia. I know you will rise and shine. Keep writing your beautiful thoughts. xo
The images used in the poem are attractive and takes in the word of imagination. May this new year come true all the dreams
If only we are gods...we can make life perfect! Nice imaginary!
very well. may you shine. ameen. i see here, life, pure life. life has wishes, hopes, dreams, aims. life is a great gift and responsibility.
shame on those stars for being so picky. i especially enjoyed reading and considering, ever so briefly, the lines: steal the shades from the rainbow stripes, the colored band, and make them the ink for my new poems; ............that should be interesting! but leave a little color in the sky for the rest of us to enjoy, please! yes, stay safe....if possible. thanks for sharing. :) bri
