twinkling light at twilight:
trepidations of pelagic undulations;
undulating spume of sun and salt;
ramified rainbows upon cavernous cliffs
morphed in baroque, grotesque grottoes;
crepuscule creeping in palettes of light:
crude colours, cruder colours, substitute into
statuesque lunar-alabaster of antiquity:
nocturnal sculptures ushering into umbrous
cupolas, vibrating with purple-veined wings of bats
with terrifying intermittent, lustrous eyes,
suspended in a silent, humid obscurity:
hermetic hectic fluttering...
fluttering one by one—
one by one taking their flight
in the moonlight...
Your descriptions pushed the limits of my vocabulary. Fantastic! I go out whenever I can (at sunset) to watch the bats come out.
I was doing good until line two. So I had my crew row me to shore and I stole the Bishop's thesaurus. He was the only learned man in town, He was not pleased. Now I have two prices on my head. But I would say well worth the adventure of this poem. A very romantic, entertaining and deeply passionate description of these mysterious creatures of the night.
Some simple lines of the poem that shine in their own beauty: 'ramified rainbows upon cavernous cliffs'... 'cupolas vibrating with purple-veined wings of bats with terrifying intermittent lustrous eyes suspended in a silent humid obscurity'...
My God! Unbelievably large English vocabulary you are enriched with. I guess even an Englishman will have to consult a dictionary or a thesaurus couple of times to grasp the meaning of the entire poem. However, whatever understood, the picture painted in the poem is simply awesome.
Amazing diction..... great use of words, (compelling me to use a lexicon as Kelly has rightly observed.) .... powerful images! Altogether I visualize the hazy lunar light and the muted shades of black and gold, the inky, auburn sky when bats like black kites take to the air, fluttering their wings! Top marks!
This is not a poem.It's a monument of words! Astonishing.I love bats too!
