A Dance... Poem by Hemakumar Nanayakkara

A Dance...

Rating: 5.0

As bright electric lights
slowly faded away
Flames of burning candles
made a splendid array

From a distant corner
blinked her crescentic eyes
Lustrous sparks of glitter
pleasing human signs

Pearly beads like
cute tender smile
Attractive gestures
of irresistible style

Placid moonlight filtered
through the long windows
Touched her cascading hair
creating dark shadows

As the music played smoothly
her eyes turned magically
His earnest longing for her
gradually overflowed

He took his steps foward
following her fragrance
An alluring display of intuitions
in front of an angelic presence

He took her hands
danced across the floor
Turning many rounds
as they floated to the fore

Twirled elegantly listening
to their own souls
Like loving pairs of veil tails
in round aquatic bowls...

Exuberantly bewitching & challenging invitation to taking one long evasive glimpse into the quivering climaxing of human tandem life at its most unique point of polarity - two soles melting over! Great poetry!

A dance, delightful; a dance, graceful and beautiful; the verse and words danced too, in perfect rhythm..!

Lovely poem. Sensual and romantic. I could see the couple dancing as I read. I am especially fond of the final stanza. Great imagery throughout. Well done.
