A Faithful Friend - Poem by Patricia Grantham

How many of you can find a faithful friend?
That will stick close by you unto the very end
When trouble comes they will never forsake
Always ready to give more than they will take

A friend like that is so very hard to find
One you can count on to talk and unwind
Someone that's concerned about how you feel
Cares for you deeply with a love that's real

A friend when in need is a friend indeed
Show yourself friendly by sowing the seed
How sweet are the words spoken between friends
Just like a balm that heals or a needle that mends

A friend that sticks closer than any brother
Very trustworthy and not the same as another
You can count on them to answer when you call
There to help you when your back is to the wall

This is difficult to get a faithful friend. But we expect to get a such friend. A friend that sticks closer than any brother is very trustworthy. This Earth exists basing upon trust. A friend is needed ever. Helping each other we can live happily. This poem is excellently penned.10 (Report)Reply

Love your poem Patricia, I was extremely Blessed to have such friends, two have already passed on and I have one left that I know I can count on in a heartbeat. I've heard it said, if you have one in a lifetime you are Blessed so I'm saying I'm extremely Blessed. I love the flow of this poem as well Patricia..... (Report)Reply

You refer twice to conversation between friends: the first refers to ordinary talk that has the added virtue of helping both friends to unwind - Do we ever need that in the mad race of life! The second reference in put in ideal poetic language - HOW SWEET IT IS TO TALK TO A FRIEND. The adjective SWEET is so well chosen because it emphasizes the sheer joy of such talk is the friend's presence, the topic can be anything. (Report)Reply

Great poem on faithfulness. Friendship is a river that can be deep and wide, but constantly flowing with love. I like your last stanza:

A friend that sticks closer than any brother
Very trustworthy and not the same as another
You can count on them to answer when you call
There to help you when your back is to the wall

sincere friends hard to find. if we are sincere in what we do for other people we may have many friends. But today, we surround by materialistic goods and money. With money we can have plentiful Faked friends. (Report)Reply
