I stepped over the rickety wooden stile,
and entered a meadow of sweetness.
Clover, daisies and buttercups
all intermingled in a silent chorus of song.
Insects buzzed in the warming sun,
and the country air
filled my lungs
with a sharp freshness.
Looking into the distance,
I watched, as a flock of birds
took to the air,
swooping across the sky,
calling joyously
in their freedom.
The World had stopped to give me
one afternoon
of sheer exhilaration.
I ran through the flowers,
I waved to the birds,
and felt a lifting of my heart.
This was paradise,
even if just for a short time,
but a time in which to refresh and energize
my body and spirit.
A time also
to renew my awareness
of the beauty of nature,
and its wonderful panorama,
displayed in all its serenity.
As someone always trying to write about nature I found this inspiring and beautifully written... steve

Ernestine, this was a wonderful piece you wrote, really liked it.
Ernestine, I just joined poemhunter and was lucky enough to come upon your poems. I love your writing, for it comes not from your pen, but from your heart.
i can see the longing.. for the lifing of a poetic heart in tandem with a bunch of joyous birds taking to air...good poets bring out lines beautified from what they see around and place them on a poetic platter... good lines such as these...10
