Freedom is turning
Into a market full of rules
How dare they intrude
upon our livestlyles and existance
How dare they impose those fines
And use our common ground
As to how we all should live
I thought this Earth was given free
And not have to live
Within a plea
They come out with inventions
Oops! They forgot to tell us
Those intentions!
Tis the price we all will pay
Comes the next generation
They will start a war
Only this time
Unlike the war for land and rule
It will be a war for civil rights
And not be used as giddy tools
You are so right...so many rules..so little room for us..just to bee...and to become what we were meant to be..you make me think and think again This is such an outstanding poem! ! Pia
to many rules to live by, freedom comes with a cost a strong write
You address a worthy cause and concern. Unfortunately too many think that the solution is laws, laws, and more laws or that wars are the answer. But freedom was never 100 percent free. We must live within limits and pay a price too often set and determined by others.
Great to see your work on both sides. You have some very humorous witty poems, but then you read this very serious look at the world. I tend to hope that we are just going through a 'bad' time, but it sure does not appear to be improving. Thanks for your perspective.
Unfortunately, all too true. I fear that humanity has fallen into a 'New Dark Ages.'
