A Portrait Of My Mother (For Aida Azzopardi) Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

A Portrait Of My Mother (For Aida Azzopardi)

Rating: 5.0

I didn't know her young
Only middle-aged
Are there any photographs of her as a child?
Or in her teenage years?
I would have loved to see her
In that beigepoodle skirt she bought in NYC
Just young and off Ellis Island
Going towards the Windsor-Detroit area
Or meeting up with my father in Jackson Park
When he came down from Toronto
I wish knew her then

It would have been wonderful to be there, even as a phantom to see them.

Yes, it would be wonderful to have known our parents in their younger years. You have expressed feelings here that most of us have had. Thank you for sharing this.

A wonderful tribute to your mother, Lee Ann. And the imagery is perfection!
