A Prayer For Deliverance
You sat on the bed with a faraway look,
Aimlessly turning the pages of a book.
Silent tears flowing down your cheeks.
You have become all bones these last few weeks.
You look at me as if to say,
Why is there so much delay?
From God’s side to call me away,
I am worn and grey.
And no longer want to prolong my stay.
Bedridden, I don’t know how to pass my day.
I don’t want to live in such a helpless way.
Please pray for my quick getaway.
I turn my face, wiping a tear.
I don’t want her to hear
The cry in my heart.
Time has come for us to part.
Slowly I walk away,
God please grant her wish I pray.
Let her go in her sleep,
And let me keep
Those memories of my mother alive,
When she was proud and always wore a smile.
Hardships have aged her too soon,
Now she is beaten and forlorn.
From the time of birth to death
I am told we have measured breaths.
Still I am praying for her deliverance,
For I believe in your benevolence.
For the deliverance To that soul - Who once prayed for our Birth Now we pray for the demise of same soul. An inevitable prayer … It teaches the – ‘Value of Loss’. Awfully touching...

A very touching and realistic picture…my grand father passed away in his nineties while both his sons before him in early fifties…so life is a dilemma…we can just pray for the deliverance of the old…..for it is difficult to see them in pain…I am always lost in thoughts while reading your poems….your are indeed a very realistic poet…
