Across Mongolia.... Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

Across Mongolia....

Rating: 5.0

The noise barriers staring at you
exactly as you fly over Mongolia
on the way to Down Under-
the Great Wall is staring at you
but if flying a bit higher,
at crystal clear weather,
cloudless sky, from such a very height
this age-old imperial Wall looks
as a delectable hot delicacy, most delicious bite
like in my childhood,
my most favourite pasteitjes bite....

pasteitjes are small snacks, daily sold in Indonesia,
in the café or along the streets and presented hot
instantly from the frying pan.

We have Winter time now, one hour less sleep,
it seems but in fact the same length of hours as
we go to bed with the summertime-zone.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Across Mongolia....

If you see those gigantic battlements as tiny curvings,
they remind me as my most favourite snacks in my childhood
the "pasteitjes" from Jakarta, Indonesia, sold as small snacks
hot served, instantly from the frying pan.

pasteitjes are small snacks, daily sold in Indonesia,
in the café or along the streets and presented hot
instantly from the frying pan.

About the Time-Zone:
We have Winter time now, one hour less sleep,
it seems but in fact the same length of hours as
we go to bed in the summertime-zone.

ONE: Only when the sight from that highest point is crystal clear, we could see the gigantic Great Wall battlements as smallest and tiny Indonesian snacks. I had flown over Mongolia more than once, but only grey dark clouds could I see. Thank you so much for the valuable feedback, worthy comments and lovely compliments.
