A brilliant baby was born
To an elated Jewish couple,
Hermann and Pauline Koch Einstein,
On 14th March 1879,
In Ulm, Germany.

The baby grew up to become the famed -
Albert Einstein -
A name celebrated as a super star scientist,
Acknowledged, felicitated, awarded,
And honoured as a great humanist as well.

As a child, Albert did not show any remarkable qualities.
In fact, he was slow to talk,
And began speaking properly,
Only after his sister Maja was born in 1881.
He became fluent in speech only after the age of ten.

Albert loved playing on his own,
Amused himself by building blocks and puzzles.
He had a strong temper too.
Once, he was so enraged with his violin teacher
That in a fit of tantrum, threw a chair at her.

Maja who wrote a short biography of her brother, recounted,
How Albert would spend hours patiently building houses of cards.
He was undeterred by any upsets during his play.
He was always curious to know about new things,
And was persistent and patient in learning to use them.

When he was older, Albert claimed that he was not smarter
than others, only more passionately curious.
" I developed so slowly that I did not begin to wonder
about space and time until I was an adult. I then delved more deeply into the problem than any other adult would have done."
