Albert Einstein 60 - Education - Lectures & Degrees Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

After the completion of his final work on
The ‘Theory of General Relativity' in 1916,
Dr. Einstein concentrated on education and lectures.
He travelled to various countries and universities,
He was received by institutions as a visiting professor.
Dr. Einstein delivered lectures on both science and education.
He advocated liberal admission policy
For those who aspired to learn and be educated.

In 1919, Einstein gave a series of lectures in Zurich.
Later, in 1920 he delivered lectures in Berlin.
He made lecture trips to Holland, Denmark and Norway.
He stressed the importance of education for the masses.
An awareness of the practical application of Science and technology as a necessity of daily life.
Applied Science must become a compulsive study for all students and general public to help them live a quality life.

Dr. Einstein made his first trip to United States in 1921.
He was embraced with warmth by the people of America.
As he stepped out from his ocean liner -'Rotterdam',
Einstein was surrounded by newspaper reporters and press.
He was taken on a motorcade down the streets of Manhattan
To the city hall, where Mayor James Hylan welcomed him.
During his stay, he gave lectures to packed audiences
At the Columbia University & The City University of New York.

A speech delivered at the National Academy of Sciences in
In Washington D.C was the highlight of the entire tour.
He visited the White House to meet President Warren Harding
Along with the members of National Academy of Sciences.
In Princeton, he had a busy schedule, wherein he delivered
Four Lectures to a large audience in McCosh's Huge Hall.
Dr. Einstein was awarded a doctoral Degree
By the Princeton University with great admiration and honour.

A book based on his four lectures was published
By the Princeton University, the following year
Entitled - ' The Meaning of Relativity'!
A man who struggled to get his first doctoral degree,
During his early years of study and stay in Switzerland,
Over a period of his life time received over 25 doctoral Degrees, from various Universities and institutions.
