All Grown Up - Poem by Patricia Barner

The years have flown
yet in their haste
the love we've known
a sweet embrace.

Your infant wails
gave way to laughter;
like billowed sails
on waves hereafter.

Look how you've grown,
soon to have a degree!
Independent, on loan,
to us as a family.

So off you go, it's
your own life you seek.
Farewell, what's that?
You'll be back next week!
