An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
At least that is what my Ma used to say.
I’ve got no insurance, and I don’t work too hard,
BUT there are lots of apples.... in my Ma’s backyard.
So I sat under her tree, planning to stay well for two years.
I ate apples till l thought....... they’d come out of my ears.
Well my gut nearly burst. To the hospital I was took.
Now, to the tune of two grand, I’m on the “I-owe-hospital” hook.

Haha you know that's why doctor hates apple, it taking the job away...but ironically here, when we visit someone in hospital, we brought the apples...and it is like, let the apples take care of him not by any doc hahaha... can we substitute with oranges too? LOL joking...now Bri you hires many doc in your backyard...still learning on the tree...waiting ripe enough to give a service hahaha_Soul
Aye Aye! Captain! Let the apples digest in you tummy faster than your wallet does in Hospital!
It an humorous poem well narrated. I found it funny and lovely. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem ANC AND THE STRUGGLE.
This is indeed a funny write, Bri! I visualize you sitting under the apple tree with your mother's advice taken so religiously into your head and gobbling down apples one by one until your stomach bulges out like a balloon. No wonder you had to end up in a hospital and come out finally with an empty wallet and emptied belly!
Who knew apples could be so dangerous... Bri Edwards knew.
Eat an apple a day, keep the doctor a way. but now, eat an apple a day, then sit in hospital and lay. well written my friend.
aye, hilarious yet with message. ironical and satirical. :)

I would like to translate this poem
from the author (me) : took is not the proper verb form of take to use here, but i wanted a rhyme with hook. hook is meant to mean an uncomfortable situation of owing money, in this case to a hospital for emergency room service. i would have written I-O-Hospital, as in IOU (I owe you) , but i wrote out owe to help non -english-as-a-first-language readers who may not be familiar with IOU.
