Like a gold coin, not just gilded,
I once was a valued asset,
In currency and well traded;
But now, loose change, tolerated
Without being highly rated;
Such is an old man's weathered fate,
We all to this fate are beset.
Yet, as things sans expiry date
Antiques are a valued asset,
Hope, old is gold's no whim of pen,
And intended also for men!

Poem: 32408888 - Antique Is Still An Asset Member: Glen Kappy Comment: aniruddha, i notice you're ahead of me in this human journey, but as one septuagenarian to another, we ain't dead yet. l'chayyim! (which is hebrew for " to life!) Yes, the world seems to move so fast, and this happens when you stick to old values, old ways. I get the same feeling when I see some of today's poems.

Yes Aniruddha, both you and Akhtar Jawad Sahab are correct. Antique is an asset and old is also gold. But surely, after the expiry date, both will be reduced to zero value. Until then, cheers!
A lovely poem, though we are old but gold is gold. In an inflated society our value always increases with the passage of time.

Old is gold, no vain whim of pen...absolutely true sir! I accept the humor as the fact because as people grow older they gain more knowledge and experiences and in turn they are loved and respected in the society! An excellent work.......10
Thanks Dr Swain for your kindly feedback. But often Old is gold or to be sold if as an antique.
