Autumn Lamp* Poem by C. P. Sharma

Autumn Lamp*

Rating: 3.7

Autumn lamp bugles the change,
Lace patterns go off mind-range.

The cool moon drops upon window panes,
Evince abating wild fire’s smoke in lanes.

Moments come and go, Time goes on forever
Man’s measures melt but Natures music never.

The hide and seek game is over,
Sing the eternal verse for ever,

You see new light at the other end,
Mocking at moments you firmly stand.

* In appreciation of Sandra Fowler’s poem ‘Bare Panes’.

Beautiful poem, we all ring the changes in life and the secret is not to attach to what has gone. Life changes, new light appears to guide us to the truth...if we look through pane with open eyes.

A very beautiful poem Mr. Sharma. The poem has mult-facets dealing with several realities of life. The importance of time is very well illuminated through the poem with a message that life always lives on so better live the present with full authority. The you have praised the Nature by describing this rather a wonderful peculiarity of Nature that man is nothing in front of the fate decided by Nature and that the man is mortal while Nature will continue to impart its beauties on the universe with ending no one know about. Then a very thought provoking theme has been ingrained in the poem and that is to make people think that life is short and everyone has to go so one should cultivate happiness all the time and try to smile always in somewhat limited time we have for the world always looks brighter from behind the smiles. The last two lines are really amazing with bifid essence. One if we consider it in life on planet earth that we do several things and try new experiences but later on in life when we stand with some maturity level, we often think about the past and sometimes even laugh for what we have been doing and find them childish. It may also indicate the end of human life when we conceive it in larger context that after the final bell rings we might find our pseudo lives spent on planet very much faux.....

A lovely poem with lots of embedded philosophical thoughts! 10! The music of life goes on with the vibrations of 'Nano Strings', - with which the scientists are trying to prove the theory of all things! And the light of truth at the end, - which the soul sees after its liberation, is God's 'light' with which came all creation! There remains no dichotomy between Religion and Physics(science) , Fritjof Capra blends them wonderfully in his 'The Tao Of Physics'! -Raj Nandy
