Sweet Autumn heralds summer season's past,
She can't conceal the changing of her leaves
Autumnal days will hasten winter's blast
Her sunny days will ripen harvet sheaves.
Artistic Autumn paints a myriad hues,
Red, orange, yellow, pink and brown and green
She - from her pallette - has the chance to choose
Collages that no artist ever dreamed.
Majestic Autimn heralds winter's charm,
Leaves fall, trees' silhouttes revealed
Wood piles replenished in the rustic farm
Exotic fungi in the woods concealed.
Is Autumn still - best season of the year?
YES, Autumn well deserves the bonfires' cheer!
(John Knight - September 2009)
A lovely poem celebrating the awesomeness of autumn even though I find this season very sad...the sky starts weeping...the trees start losing their leaves...etc...
This is a truly magnificent pseudo-sonnet, with images worthy of The Romantics. I especially like 'Collages that no artist ever dreamed.' This poem makes the transition from Summer to Autumn a positive delight! S :)
I love this verse John from the title onwards - - it is a truly awesome time of transition - -and so glad you have reminded us of it's insurmountable beauty. Best wishes and 10 from Fay

Very musical, very rhythmic; Autumn has such a vivid personna in here. Starts off with a burst of energy and passion, and never slows down!
