Being A Woman Poem by Feneena S Mohamed

Being A Woman

Rating: 4.9

I have never been
The ideal mother;
Nor a perfect teacher,
A poor preacher.
Forget being a nice daughter.
I condemn the wifely chores;
The heaviness of nights-
Nights beaten to pulp.
Still,
I breathe,
I look at the world
Through my rain soaked windows-
Flashing a teary monsoon smile.
On hot summer
While being lulled by
My air-conditioner-
I scorn,
I spurn,
The silly ideas
the crass ideals
that make a woman bound,
fettered, insane.
Denied the luxury of
A regular fever;
Denied the rice-gruel
Matched with spicy pulses-
I pop in pills
to cook, clean
and scrub.
I teach A, B, Cs to
Reluctant kids.

Charged with anger and frustration the poem speaks volume about the plight of woman as a mother, daughter and wife and a house maker. You are not going to accept the stereotype. Deserved to be Poem of the day. Congrats. 'A regular fever; Denied the rice-gruel Matched with spicy pulses- I pop in pills to cook, clean and scrub. I teach A, B, Cs to Reluctant kids.'.. is so nice.

Thank you for " being a woman" . You are blessed, beautiful and divine if you are a woman. You are the mother of humanity. I love you if you are a woman. Man is nothing without a woman. I love you dearly if you are a woman. My dear mother is a woman. I love her dearly too. My sisters are beautiful women. I bow to you for being a woman. I am inspired by your beauty and by everything that you do.
