Peaceful and tranquil the boats in the harbour,
As the sun sets in the crimson red sky,
Their silhouettes dark as they lie there at anchor,
Their masts ringing softly while hungry gulls fly,
And now the restless southern breeze
Does blow across the sea once more,
Yet still the waves do glisten bright
And gently lap the shore.
Peaceful and tranquil the boats in the harbour,
There is a trawler that's tied to the quay,
Drying its nets at the end of its journey,
Ready to sail on the high morning sea,
And now the light is fading fast
And so the evening rests once more,
Yet still the waves do glisten bright
And gently lap the shore.
Peaceful and tranquil the boats in the harbour,
Lit by the stars while the tavern lights glow,
Sailors are drinking and shanties they're singing,
Tales and adventures from so long ago,
And soon the sun will rise again
Above the seas of blue once more,
Yet still the waves do glisten bright
And gently lap the shore.
Oh, I do like this one, Andrew. Wonderful imagery. This picture you paint with words is more beautiful than if it were captured on canvas. A marvelous write. Thank you. Richard

A dreamy soothing poem Andrew. I could feel the lap of the waves as I was reading it. There is something about the sea that is so calming and lifting. Lovely read. Love and hugs Ernestine XXX
A lovely poem of boats in the harbor moored for the night peacefully awaiting the sailors - on the dawns early light. A pleasure to read, as always Andrew! *10*! ! Friend Thad
