मां, मैं तुम्हारे गले के लिए मोतियों की एक माला पिरोऊंगा
मेरे दुःख के आंसुओं से युक्त.
सितारे तुम्हारे पांवों पर बाँधने के लिए रोशनी की पाजेब घड़ कर लाये हैं,
किंतु मेरी माला तुम्हारे गले में खूब फबेगी.
धन और प्रसिद्धि का वरदान तुम्हीं देने वाली हो
अब यह तुम्हारे उपर है कि तुम उसे दो या न दो.
किंतु यह जो मेरा दुःख है सर्वथा मेरा अपना है,
और जब मैं इसे तुम्हें भेंट चढ़ाने लाऊं
तो तुम मुझे अपने आशीर्वाद का प्रसाद देना मत भूलना.
Mother, I shall weave a chain of pearls for thy neck
with my tears of sorrow.
The stars have wrought their anklets of light to deck thy feet,
but mine will hang upon thy breast.
Wealth and fame come from thee
and it is for thee to give or to withhold them.
But this my sorrow is absolutely mine own,
and when I bring it to thee as my offering
thou rewardest me with thy grace.
The chain of pearls with tears is a unique poem of Rabindranath Tagore. मां, मैं तुम्हारे गले के लिए मोतियों की एक माला पिरोऊंगा मेरे दुःख के आंसुओं से युक्त. Rajnish ji, by translating this intense poem into Hindi you have opened a floodgate of emotion. Just as the poet has requested to be blessed by his mother, in spite of offering a chain of tears, i am sure you too would be amply blessed for translating this poem into exceptionally beautiful Hindi. I visit this translation again so brilliantly rendered You have also given the English version along, now, is it a translation of the original Bengalee or, Tagore has of course written a few poems in English. I'll appreciate your clarification.
Thanks for your second visit to this page. Let me clarify. I don't know Bengali. I read the English version of the poem on PH (the link shown below my Hindi translation above) and treated it as my base for the translation.
