Chameleon Eyes Poem by Practicing Poetess

Chameleon Eyes

Rating: 5.0

While yet a small angel in Heaven,
Just before you were to be born,
You had an interview with God
To prepare you, and to warn

'Your life won't all be easy,
But I will see you through.
And now, there is a question
I'd like to ask of you'.

'If you could choose the colour of
Your eyes, what would you pick?
Your family has grey, and blue, and green
Please choose one, quick'.

'Oh Lord, they're all so lovely!
I simply can't decide!
So, may I have them all? '
That's how you have chameleon eyes.

So, if you're wearing a green vest
Your eyes reflect the green.
But on a day your shirt is blue,
True-blue is what they seem.

And if your coat is grey, your eyes
As grey as slate appear
They change with mood, or outfit
Your chameleon eyes, so dear.

So now you've heard the tale of
Your unique chameleon eyes
Which, at this very moment,
Seem to mirror blue-grey skies.

your eyes may be chameleon, but your heart is solid red and that will not change even when you go to bed.

Lucky for me. I'd look kind of strange with a checkerboard or patchwork heart! Thank you for your sweet, positive poetic comment! :)
