Christmas Day - Χριστούγεννα Poem by Kostas Lagos

Christmas Day - Χριστούγεννα

Rating: 4.8

Christmas day, I shall worship God

Is it necessary to be so freezing cold?

Deep in the night, I go to the church

Pitch black, for my keys I must search

I've done it, I entered the temple

Stumbled on a chair, the works of the devil

I turned the lights on, at last I can see

Need the bathroom, drunk too much tea

Finally the mass I am ready to start

Did someone eat my last lemon tart?

Being a chaplain nowadays is no easy task

In the warmth of my bed I should bask

And if all these don't make sense at all to you

It doesn't matter, neither do I have a clue

Είναι ανάγκη να τρέχω μεσ' στα κρύα;

Merry Christmas. Yes it's chilly cold out in west. But still Christmas fervor burns. Eat the cake and drink the ginger wine.... make merry for christ is born.

A heartwarming Christmas poem, the adding of humor makes the sphere so warm, but the missing of your cake makes this poem a thought-provoking one. Excellent poem, Kostas, always cheer through humor. Thank you so much for sharing
