Cowboy, Come Home - Poem by Lex Newman

His hat still hangs on a nail beside the door
His last postcard stuck in the brim
His lover watches out the window
Staring longingly
Fleece coats wait
For their owner to come home
The branches of the trees
Hear the wind
And his lover
Whisper his name
'Cowboy, come home, cowboy'
