Desert Romance Poem by Argentine Tango

Desert Romance

Rating: 4.8

The desert is jealous of the clouds.
Lonely below their shadow it awaits
its one true love - the rain.
It thirsts for its presence,
but is forced to watch
the clouds embrace it
and carry it off.

It is jealous too of the grass
in a far off city,
for the grass grows green
where hope is plentiful,
and long has it been
since the desert was privy
to the rain's gentle nurture.

Friends, the rain and umbrellas
greet each other every day,
and the desert can't help but
wonder if the rain ever
misses her too, or if
time since their last visit
has caused it to forget
the last time they kissed.

very well put, and very touching. when will the rain and desert meet again or will they be lost forever this time?

Splendid description of a wild nature...... Indeed rain is a lover whose lover never relished by the sand.... Contrasting desert with greenery is phenomenal...... diction n syntax entertaining the thirst of a arid zone

A nice metaphor of the longing of two hearts, separated as the sky above and the earth below.
