The 3rd and final short poem in a series of poems about the total solar eclipse of 2017, the first of its kind in 99 years!
Diamond Ring
You lovely thing
What a shame
You can't remain
But I know
Earth needs the Sun
That is why
You must be gone.

At first I thought of a literal diamond ring, something which I have never owned. But you use it effectively as a metaphor for the temporary solar eclipse. Dazzling.
Dazzling exactly like a diamond ring, Michael. For a brief moment toward the end of the eclipse, you see a diamond ring in all its brilliance. It is amazing to watch! Thanks so much for commenting!
