Walking down my memory lane
Memories that clustered in a chain
I evoked an unfamiliar face
During the great marathon race
For a minute or two our eyes met
Then changed course ‘cos of fret
“Will I see him again? ” I doubt
“Or die before in a drought? ”
That was the first time I saw him
Not his name even I know
It might be Shaun, Jake or Jim
Or Irish or Italian, I don’t know
His face was of pure virtue
A look seen very few
Like a breeze that vanishes in a jiffy
Shaking your steady knee
He fades into a dream unknown
Shrinking down my thoughts
He wilts to my freed-pain
Down my memory lane.
