Respected beloved teacher
I hear that you are close to god
If you shall not truly mind
Will you hand on this to him?
Tell him to remind Santa
That I want my daddy for Christmas
It’s been three years since I saw him
And so Christmas is such a bore!
Why is he in prison?
What crime has he done?
Taking him away from his son…
What fun do you gain?
Last Christmas I had sent a letter
With hope and love and desire
But the post man brought it back
Saying that the Lord was busy
Then I sent one to Santa
Knowing that he would read
He replied saying yes
But now I know he forgot
If god you forget to tell Santa
Don’t worry, I won’t cry
I’ll jus wait another year
And remind you over again

This is a fine poem Sania. You have penned the irony of the situation with a skill that belies your tender years (and I don't mean to be patronizing here) . I love the way you personalize both God and Santa, as if they were ordinary sort of people, not holier than thou grand ideas that float about in people's heads. And the final line shows that sort of passive resistance that enabled Nelson Mandella to survive in prison for so long. Congratulations. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
