What we perceive is different from what others see and the truth is always relative. People are multi-dimensional and complicated showing us different masks they wear to survive living in a difficult world. I enjoyed the theme of your poem. Thanks for sharing.

Your opinion about people is right. Everyone is wearing mask behind which the real face self is hiding. Deserves to be chosen as the poem of the day.10+++

tricia, i like this poem! and i just read your bartender one- i like it too. i like your plainspoken and accessible language, your crisp diction, great phrases (no one throws it back like the prohibitionist) , and what you say. i look forward to reading more of your stuff. a minor thing- check the definition of blank verse; i think you'll want to change the descriptor. glen kappy

The philanthropist: cheats on his taxes. The environmentalist cannot live without A/C..... //.... Hypocrisy all the way. Everyone is driven by it within his or her range. Thanks.

Fantastic. Exceptionally the open voice mused the bold song poetically. Brilliant. Specially I congratulate the poet because no one could finger it as a slogan, but it hits as a slogan with its extraordinary poetic talent. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting poem, Tricia. It gets even easier to wear a mask nowadays with social media. Is anyone genuine, do you think?
