No walls of stone were ever cast
Nor yet as such defined
To equal thus the fortress built
Where I be so confined
And ever shall this fortress hold
My soul within its keep
That none shall deem to touch or see
Whilst there it lingers deep
Enclosed within, this fragile heart
Then finds a refuge there
Away from all to trouble me
Hid low from worldly glare
Yet if true love these walls could shake
And tender words could raze
Then merrily I would rejoice
To welcome sweeter days
So ever shall I seek release
Through love`s redeeming grace -
This fortress then would, crumbling, fall
To show the sun`s bright face
A lovely poem as ever! ! One day the fortress shall surely crumble and fall and our souls shall witness greater radiance! A 10 for this excellent write! !
I love this, as usual. Mind you, if you keep your soul locked away, how will we all see the beauty therein?
Amazing flow and cadence, reading this out loud was like dripping the honey of a rainbow, your language was perfect and elegant. Sometimes people built fortress to protect themselves from the years of pain. But all walls must come down eventually. A delightful read
Exquisite! Beyond awesome! I'm intimately familiar with such walls.
To coin a phrase, Beautifully Written. It's amazing how we illustrate the heart so differently and yet they paint the very same picture! ! I love it, and Thank you! ! Rick Elpers
Encaged soul seeking to escape the worldly glare, yet longing for warmth of true love's sunshine. Beautifully written.
Absolute concept of a mysterious fortress that is more than image! Now begins Madam Valerie, your need for maintenances of it that cost a lot, I fear
