Green, gold, blue and white,
The county of Carlow shimmers with attitude
In the strong July sunlight,
Fields expanding over to an optimistic horizon,
Green and gold blending into a blue and white sky,
We travel in the bus through the Ancient East having fun,
We laugh at our silliness with the constant allure of the mighty sun
Shining on green trees, hedges and grass bursting with life having won
The gift of healthy roots shooting up to the heavens above,
I find in your sky blue eyes the present striding out with purpose and the truth of your love,
The bus travels through a small village called Leighlinbridge
Sleeping in a dreamy vision of narrow roads stretching out to my kind of sanctuary,
Trees and hedges seem to be tumbling onto the intimacy of the road ahead,
I feel so happy travelling with you and soaking up the views of Mount Leinster and the Blackstairs Mountains,
Their presence stamps my belonging to this shimmering jewel of a county,
A tenderness and love blossoms as i see
The sweeping green, gold, blue and white,
That merges in your sky blue eyes as i see God's light,
Now there is no darkness, no lonely night,
God's light swallows our past,
You hold my hand as we give up the fight
Of painful memories that had captured our peace on many lonely nights,
Together we feel God's holy light,
As Carlow unites our peace and love with the serenity of the night.
Heartfelt words. May memories live on in both of your hearts. Thank you so much.
