Eklavya, the resolute youth tribal,
A genius he was and a worker solo
He toiled and toiled to master archery
Idol of Drona was Guru of the visionary.
Every thing was well still he studied
Solo, incognito away in a jungle,
Scaling heights to be greatest archer.
One day perhaps during hunting,
There occurred a sudden chance meeting
Betwixt disciple and his coveted Guru
Overjoyed he was unlike his guru
Whose wrath was invited by his command
Over archery achieved through devotion,
Solo practice, faith and confidence.
Tribal's achievement stunned guru Drona,
Superior archer may jeopardize Arjuna,
His dearest disciple n a Pandu prince,
Felt he n decided to use own prudence
For removing the thorn in path of Arjuna.
Eklavya's honesty and for him loyalty
Gifted own thumbs to Drona in Gurudakshina.

The tragedy of Ekalavya is a lesson to the loyal and sincere people who consider themselves indebted to somebody who in turn exploit the ethics. A very good poem deserving felicitations
Very much refreshing to read a Mahabharata story...highly a commendable poem 5 stars
For removing the thorn in path of Arjuna. Eklavya's honesty and for him loyalty Gifted own thumbs to Drona in Gurudakshina........here the sacrifice of Eklavya as Gurudakshina(return gift) for being teacher in exile is wellreaveled. The selfish nature of Drona Guru was known to all in the story of Mahabharata. So beautifully executed. Thank you dear Ratnakar Ji.
Great representation......thanks for sharing.....anjandev roy.
The story of Ekalavya in Mahabharata is both touching and heart rending. There never can be a greater 'Gurudakshina' than given by Ekalavya to his secret Guru Dronacharya. But the cruelty and selfishness shown by Guru Dronacharya can never be forgiven. Here, the name of Ekalavya is ever remembered as an ideal Shishya. Ratnakar ji, So good to read a poem on Ekalavya. Thank you for sharing. Top marks

superb and excellently written on Gurudakshina from the famous Indian Epic Mahabharata; Gurudakshina- the Honorarium of the Master, master of Soul, master of enlightenment; yes- for true disciple it needs to pay to the master anyhow, anywhere, anytime// thanks for sharing this
