How To Feel Old
POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
True story. I drove 745 miles to a wedding in another state, where I discovered that the bride's grandmother was a student of mine in junior high school. Impossible, right? Actually, she is the bride's STEP-grandmother, having married an older man after his first wife passed away, but still, that really makes me feel old!

A great haiku! What an experience for you! You are not old yet.

And I'm certain that she had some wonderful things to say about that teacher that just finished driving 745 miles. No wonder you felt old. Kim, your wonderful sense of humour is what's keeping you young! Great poem and notes!

In fact she did say that I influenced her to be a teacher, too! She taught for many years and is now retired like me. Thanks for the comment, my friend.

Hard to believe that you are old enough, but thanks for the comment.

That's hilarious that you drove 745 miles and discovered that the bride's grandmother was a former student of yours!
