There is nothing that I do
Or nothing that I say
That people don’t advertise.
There is nothing that I do
Or nothing that I say
That people don’t criticize.
I want to be a nobody,
But they just won’t let me be.
They tie me down each time
I want to break free.
Expectations, Anticipations, Demands—
These STIFLE me.
I want to be a nobody.
I want to break free.

It's a well-put paradox, the desire to break free AND be a 'nobody'... the tensions of such paradoxes keep us writing for years!
Wonderful advice from Preeti Datar, I concur--good poem--Melvina
Sounds like 'teen talk' we teens always want to break free. I can relate, but not in my present day situation, yeah i did want to break free say a year back, but then, i didn't pay too much attention to 'what others' think or say. It's my life! You can be free, just get that blockage out! Preets

Very nice & simple poem. It reminds me of a song by Five for Fighting called Superman. It's about celebrites and the fact that fame confines them. Your poem is as good as superman, so keep it up.
