There's a feeling I get
that I don't understand:
How one becomes
such a melancholy man -
The song in my head
plays ever more clear and loud,
it's like being alone
in the heart of a crowd -
I find I understand Zeppelin's words:
there's a feeling I get
when I long and look
to the West -
Something that way
raw, real, no pretense;
not there itself...rather,
what it represents -
There is a favored scent
upon the wild-wind,
an aroma of realization
we shall never pass this way again -
Here in the present
I'm just a child of God grown old,
thinking less of the body
and more of the soul -
Standing under the sun
I feel the rain,
losing myself
in all that I gain -
I can't seem to go and
can't seem to stay,
in the present just hanging on
trying to try, each new day -
A profound, thoughtfilled discourse on kife. It seems you and I atr paddling down the same stream.Love your rhymning abilities. Worth a 10
A great stage of life to be in. After doing all one can to grow and survive now just accepting what is in front of us. Thank You Smoky, a lovely poem.
Wonderfully well written Smoky. It describes our current state. Thanks for sharing. Hope you had a nice holiday.
Thanks Lawerence, I sincerely appreciate your comments. I tried to leave a comment on your beautiful poem Recurring Dream, as I really like that one. However, this website would not accept it, most likely because of the far too many commercials that are endlessly running (poorly) here. Take care my friend, hope you are well. Peace.

Hi, Smoky! Getting back to your poems again. I like the feel of this one and wonder, are you talking about the bittersweet thing that is this life? Or is it more like the first senryu of mine under the title Three Winter Poems? Or does it relate in part or some way to what I express in the third stanza of my poem Autumn Used to Tell? They can be elusive these things we feel sometimes. Blessings! -Glen
