Protecting the Vedas as a Fish,
Carrying the earth as a Tortoise,
Upholding the world as a Boar,
Killing the demon as a man-lion named Narasimha,
Tricking King Baali as a dwarf named Vamana,
Annihilating the kñhatriya class as a Braùmin named Parashurama,
Defeating the ten headed Ravana as Sri Rama,
Propagating compassion as the Buddha,
Destroying evil as Kalki- the Kaliyuga Avatara.
O! Sri Krishna! I salute
And worship your ten illuminating forms.
One who rests on Lakshmi Devi's bosom,
One who wears earrings shaped like Makara fish,
One who adorns his neck with garlands of exotic forest flowers.
Deva Hare Sri Krishna! Glory unto you!
One who is bathed with Sun's brilliant rays,
One who uproots sorrows,
One who dwells in the heart of the seers,
Like a pure white swan!
Deva Hare Sri Krishna! Glory unto you!
One who razed the poisonous serpent Kaliya,
One who made his people happy with his deeds,
The darling of Yadava clan as charming as a lotus,
Blooming with the first touch of the Sun's rays.
Deva Hare Sri Krishna! Glory unto you!
One who destroyed Asuras like Madhu, Mura and Naraka,
One whose vehicle is the bird Garuda,
One who made the Devas jubilant with his triumphant deeds.
Deva Hare Sri Krishna! Glory unto you!
One who has eyes as beautiful as the pearls of a lotus,
One who delivers his devotees from the bond of existence,
One who rules the three worlds.
Deva Hare Sri Krishna! Glory unto you!
As Rama, one who embellished his wife Seeta, Janaka's daughter,
One who demolished the evil Dookñhana and others,
One who annihilated the ten headed Ravana.
Deva Hare Sri Krishna! Glory unto you!
One who is dark complexioned like the mysterious rain clouds,
One who lifted the Mandara mountain,
One who possesses eyes like the bird Chakora
Staring into the moonlit face of Sri Bhagavati!
Deva Hare Sri Krishna! Glory unto You!
This song of Jayadeva,
Auspicious and exhilarating,
Bestows happiness to all Krishna Bhaktas!

Thanks Dr. Geeta Radhakrishna Menon for sharing this poem. The story of Radha and Krishna is the soul of our common folk songs. Many of us don't know when they sing a song about a Sanvariya or Gori they are in fact singing the love story of Radha and Krishna.
Respected Akhtar Jawad Sahab, It gives me immense pleasure to know that you have read this poem of Geeta Govinda. Thank you so much Sir, Your words and comments are always inspiring
