Unperceived even in the Vedic chants,
Unsolved even by the cleverest of Gods like, The Brahma
Is the composition of Jayadeva, full of literature, music, and rhythm.
May it sparkle like a light in the minds of wise men.
May this song of Jayadeva,
The son of Bhoja Deva and Radha Devi,
Be sung by best of his friends like Parashara
Poet Jayadeva praises his own composition of Geeta Govinda.
O! Sweet Honey! Do not think you are the sweetest,
O! Sugar! You are just ordinary sugary pebbles,
O! Grapes! No one will bother to look at you!
O! Milk! You have degraded yourself to the level of water!
O! Golden Mangoes! Even if you cry, you cannot equal the lover's lips.
None of you can, ever, compare with the sweetness of my lyrical
Love strains.
jayadev lived a life of love and devotion to Krishna and Radha. for a Hindu it is easy to engage in romantic affairs, simply because of our God concept is full of mirth and joy and playfulness. i love your poems.. very much simply because they are very much romantic.. dev
Jayadeva truly lived a life of love and beauty. His love for his wife Padmavati can be read between the lines of all his Ashtapadis. Geeta Govinda has survived centuries only because of the couple's Bhakti or intense devotion to Radha and Krishna. Wisely shared his love in medium of poem having translation from Sanskrit to English. Thank u madam for sharing.
A nice love song, impressive one................................
