When I was younger I did try
To end my life by suicide.
I thought it better if I die,
Better for loved ones if I died.
My overdosed body was found,
And taken to an E.R. where
I was saved though my head did pound.
A nurse named Joy gave me great care.
She knew that I was still in hell.
And so she told me about her
Attempt to end it all as well.
Her honesty touched me for sure.
My life is better and not worse,
Thanks to a 'been there, done that' nurse.
I wish I had someone like that when I did it Thank God for poetry
Sometimes, the generous kindness of strangers, saves. So, we must not question our good fortune but clearly recognize the miracle and be very, very grateful. Great poem, if true, kudos to Joy and you!

Suicide is never the answer. It leaves loved ones devastated.
