Kids Will Be Kids

So what if kids misbehave a bit?
It's their nature. It's what they do.
They have boundless energy.
Were you never a kid?
You know what it's like.
Give them a break.
Nobody's
perfect,
right?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem took Second Place in Category 19 Of the Mississippi 2026 Spring Contest. The subject of the category was 'the antics of children'. It had to a short form such as Clerihew, Kelly Lune, Diamante, Nonet or Fibonacci. I chose Nonet. This has nine syllables in the first line, eight in the second, etc. until only one in the last line. The poem is published on page 98 of the Mississippi Poetry Journal,2026 Contest Edition.
