King Death - Θάνατος Βασιλεύς Poem by Kostas Lagos

King Death - Θάνατος Βασιλεύς

Rating: 5.0

Yes Death indeed, you are the lord

you rule, you reign over the world

everyone and everything dies, men, animals, plants

anything alive in your hands faints

they all bow to your everlasting power

There there, hail undisputed king!

revel in thy victory, make us all your subjects

until the last living being to you will be submitted

And then, when there will be nothing left to do

you Death, finally, will die too

One of the most powerful write on death that I have ever read. The two closure lines express brilliantly that everything is within the ambit of death, including DEATH itself. A great and insightful poem masterfully penned. Onto my Poem List.

Two significant points: 'anything alive in your hands faints...' Yes, they faint to be alive and conscious again. 'And then, when there will be nothing left to do you Death, finally, will die too'... Beautifully penned.
