Kurban- The Sacrifice Poem by MAHTAB BANGALEE

Kurban- The Sacrifice

Rating: 5.0

In this mundane life
I learn from Abraham's Kurban History-
"Sacrifice the most favorite,
Leave the most lovable….! "

Through the whole year
Camel, Cow, Buffalo, Ram, Goat
Quadruped innocent domestic animals
become endearing!
I don't know why these animals
become favorite or lovable as sacrificed oblation

Through the whole year
only in a month for a special day celebrating
I make the four-footed animals
my most lovable mundane things
for sacrificing on the path of God!
I slaughter this innocent animal
and sacrifice the blood
in the name of God
though I don't know
why God needs blood!

Kurban
The sacrifice
I'm said to sacrifice,
to leave the loveliest object
in this temporary life
not only the four-footed animals
but also parents, wife, child, any precious possessions……!
Because these all are pure hindrance learning the self!
(I believe- who knows himself/herself he/she knows his/her God!)

Kurban,
The sacrifice
I'm said to sacrifice,
to leave the most preferred person or assets
to leave all when anything or anyone
becomes most beloved or enjoyable
because, the most favorite anything or anyone
brings the dictatorship in mind,
builds a path of guilty,
patronages an addiction forgetting
the execution of sympathy, conscience, and humanity

A very thought provoking poem. Among the Hindus too this practice was quite prevalent though it is seldom practiced anymore. Through human consume meat, let us at least not do it in the pretext of religion.

Animals we all eat (with the exception of a few) , I think animals were sacrificed to provide food for those who go to Makkah for pilgrimage. The Islamic scholars should think and if they unanimously resolve to stop it, it may be stopped. As Holy Prophet told the believers that hi followers will not be unanimous on an issue except the truth.
