Lay Down Your Arms Lest We All Fall Poem by Richard Wlodarski

Lay Down Your Arms Lest We All Fall

Rating: 5.0

Someday I will wake up to see
A world that is totally free
Free of bigotry and slavery
Free of the evil in you and me

Someday I will wake up to smell freedom
I will pray to one day be in His Kingdom
I will fold my hands go down on my knees and say:
Thank You Heavenly Father for this Freedom Day

Someday I will wake up to hear songs of joy
Revisit Christmas Day and that special toy
I will shed tears of joy and thank mom and dad
And remember that my life wasn't all that bad

Someday I will wake up and taste liberty
Unlock cuffs and shackles quelling you and me
I will rise stand tall and scream to them all:
Lay down your knives and guns lest we all fall

Someday I will wake up and touch the humanity in you and me
I will thank God for sending us strength and dignity to set us free
I will shed tears of grief for all those children who didn't have to die
And try to understand why so very young mom and dad had to say: Bye

But for now I'm on pins and needles with all the lunacy injustice and lack of sanity
Every day and night I ask the Heavenly Father about the evil in you and me
I pray that God puts an end to all the racism indignity and immorality
And that one day His heavenly children will show us the peaceful way to setting us all free

This poem brings us face to face with 'bigotry and slavery lunacy injustice and lack of sanity, racism indignity and immorality' stalking this world but at the same time giving us hope that some day we shall be free from all these evils and live with love in harmony. May this prayer be answered by God to put an end to all kinds of injustice and bring peace to the world.
