Lew Wallace (2) Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

Lew Wallace (2)

LEW WALLACE (2)
Wallace was an agnostic
was never told he was a lunatic
but he wanted to prove all his life
that Jesus of Nazareth did not exist

that His birth in Bethlehem was not God's bliss
oh how his faithful wife became very sad
she thought he was crazy, it was truly bad
since he had to handle Lincoln's case

but he was still in the race
six years he needed to prove that Jesus was not real
all wonderful things are lies as they appeal

when he reached chapter four in the Bible
he could not go further
since he was confronted that
Jesus is not fake, but as real as Plato and Julius Cesar
God gave dear Lew the response
He needed not ask why

His loyal wife was very happy
My dear Lew, she said,
all the time I have been praying to the Lord
I am so grateful that you are now a fervent follower of God

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Lew Wallace live during President Lincoln's period, they were colleagues and friends, both were lawyers. At first Wallace was an agnostic, he wanted to prove mankind that Jesus has not lived truly, so he read the Bible, but after having read 4 chapters, he must confess that Jesus is as real and true as Plato or Julius Cesar
