Limerick: Fortune Cookies

I got the best fortune cookie yet.
"Your life will be long and free of debt."
But a problem arose:
The next cookie I chose
Gave me oh, so much cause for regret.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Written 25 March 2017

I actually prefer "cooky" as the singular form, but since the real fortune cooky used the word "cookie", I spelled it that way in the poem. Back when I was an English teacher, "cookie" was not acceptable as the singular form, but nowadays both forms are acceptable.

My granddaughter is the person who opened the fortune cooky, and she sent the picture from her phone to mine, but it took me until today to get it from my phone onto my computer so that I could post the poem.

Kim .. I have a new-found respect for your ability to pull humour out of a situation The limerick and the picture are a working pair. Uproariously funny when put together. Congratulations to your grand-daughter for her cognizance and communication
