Loss And Gain Poem by Parameswaran Nair Damodaran Nair

Loss And Gain

Rating: 5.0

What you earn out of way
Is designed disastrous by destiny
The empire of Hastinapura and
The Kuru dynasty were of no exception
the crazy lust of a king lands the country
In perils and peacelessness of generations.
Crown prince Devavratha's oath of celibacy
Turns to a severe curse that befell the empire.
The greatest of all philosophies, Bhagavat Geetha,
The war of Kurukshetra had produced is more precious
Than the lives lost in it for the sake of ego and arrogance
A gain is perhaps preceded by heavy loss!

Your views on war are perfectly fine. War is an analogy here, every man has to fight the inner evil, which is there with the good. One has to fight the evil to win goodness. And the epic of war has produced, as you say, a great song like Bhagavad-Gita. That is why Mahabharata is called a Fifth Veda.

All wars have disastrous affects in people and their lives. If lessons are not learnt from wars it will go on again and again with heavy losses. Very nice poem indeed. Thanks for sharing.

A momentous act can have negative as well as positive consequences. If thousands got killed in Kurukshetra, it led to the scripting of the great Bhagvat Geeta! Thus 'peace has its victories no less renowned than war'. A great write!

Man cannot calculate the far reaching effects of his negative actions but the positive result of it is always a boon in disguise. Thank you dear poetess
