Why does he keep me hostage
If he doesn’t even want me?
Why does he make me suffer
If he doesn’t care how I feel?
Why did he burn my heart
But I cannot even touch his?
Why do I love him, pray,
Someone tell me, please!
Why does he punish me so-
When was love a crime?
If I have done something wrong
Then let me make it right
Why do I love and suffer-
Is all of it in vain?
Why must I keep on loving him
Who can’t recall my name...

Such a sadness, such yearning, such pain. Your words bring those feelings to life so very well...........................
Love is the Hostage, filling the giver with pain, hoping - always hoping...such sadness this poem brings - written in tears....
Oh, and there can never be enough questions, in life or in poetry (aren't they the same to us?) . Answers, though, are few and far between. That being said, keep asking your questions, Sonya, you just may find your answers!
How painful to be so out of control, isn't it? This is so resoundingly true, I felt a well-known arrow pierce my heart when I read it. Absolutely marvelous! :)
A 10 Sonya... Memory of Love is the real Hostage keeper, to fill your life with new memories makes you free. Heartfelt poem x
Your final couplet is a perfect coda to this melancholy poem about love's cruelty. You have a good feel for poetic form Sonya. I wonder though, if a few question marks might have improved this? love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
