Love, platonic Versus romantic. Poem by Nabakishore Dash

Love, platonic Versus romantic.

Rating: 5.0

As the sun rises over
the eastern horizon,
on the earth blooms the lotus
with its petals open.
Neither the sun comes down
nor the flower goes up for
any physical union.
This love is eternal, platonic and holy.
Likewise is the love between
the moon and the lily.

Indic mythology depicts
the love between Krishna
and Radha, as pure as snow,
without carnal connection.
Two sacred souls are united
to become one for any action;
deep, indestructible by any force,
any weapon,
so powerful that it can
raise even a mountain.

Romantic love is born
from chatting, meeting,
eating, drugs and drinking,
the basis being physical attraction.
Financial extortion,
sensual pleasure
are the main intention.
Ephemeral in nature,
ultimately ends in hate,
violence, suicide and divorce,
the partners feel lovelorn.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
