My Feelings For You - Poem by Jim Ward

I promised you sunny days,
But only you make the rain go.
I promised a full moon,
But you lead me through the dark.
I told you someday
you'd have diamonds on your hands;
And we'd live in a mansion
On the other side of town.

But I want you to know
That the mansion is a house.
And I want you with me
For now and always.
I'd give up all I have
To spend it with you
These are not just words
But my feelings for you

A rich man has only money
Until it's all spent.
A king has only a kingdom
Until a conqueror walks in.
But if you say you love me,
And stand here with me,
I know we'd have it all
Because our love can't fail.

But I want you to know
That the mansion is a house.
And I want you with me
For now and always.
I'd give up all I have
To spend it with you
These are not just words
But my feelings for you

Together our love is the wealth that we'll share,
And we'll share the rest of our lives.
And I want you to know
That the mansion is a house.
And I need you with me
For now and always.
I'll give up all I have
To spend it with you
These are not just words
But my feelings for you
