My Upanishadic Birdie Pie 8 Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

'Tell me, my learned friend,
What language do birds like you speak? ' I asked.

My friend gave a loud shriek and said:
'We have a common language!
Though we are attired in varied colours,
And we look very different from each other,
We have different bird families,
We fly in different directions,
Our voice has varied sound tones and textures.
Yet, we all speak the same language and
Understand each other perfectly.'

'Oh, How lucky! " I exclaimed!
"You need not learn to read and write.
Yet, you understand each other.'

'Yes! " my friend replied shyly.
'We learn the language of intuitiveness! '

Listening to my black and white friend,
I felt jubilant!
My friend tilted her white tipped beak,
Seemed to contemplate and then said:
'The sky is our paradise!
Don't you humans look up to the skies?
As the heavenly abode? '

The birdie pie continued:
'We move about in this region freely.
We experience the presence
Of various Masters in this region!
Though we never see them in human form,
We enjoy the fragrance of their wisdom,
And feel their presence -
They are the spirits of love.
We know them as pure love -
Free from any kind of bondage! '
