Nail-Pierced Hands Poem by Obed dela Cruz

Nail-Pierced Hands

There are times that I cannot understand
The things that You want and the things You’ve planned.
You do some things in a mysterious way
And my eyes behold of these everyday.
That is why I’ll just kiss Your nail-pierced hands.

You do things quickly but sometimes You wait.
Never You’ve been early… never been late.
Sometimes, I’m left puzzled by Your timing
And the indescribable things you bring.
That is why I’ll just kiss Your nail-pierced hands.

Sometimes I let my self-centeredness rule;
My open-mindedness sometimes can fool
Because I have questions I can’t explain.
The utmost knowledge I cannot attain.
That is why I’ll just kiss Your nail-pierced hands.

Your nail-pierced hands can speak wisdom to me
Anything that you say I will agree.
Thanks for making me wiser everyday
You don’t desire for me to go astray.
And yes, I will just kiss Your nail-pierced hands.

If this is Jesus knowledge & wisdom comes from reading the word. Deu.29: 29.

The tender yet painful imagery of 'nail-pierced hand' is seducingly superb.

He got his hand pierced by nails for our sake, for our well being, for our love for the fellowmen. He is still guiding us on the path of truth, virtue and non-violence. It is for the world to go in his path to attain everlasting peace. A good poem.
