Old Bri 5 (Old Bri Meets Bigfoot)

An atheist was our Old Bri,
a carefree and fun-loving guy.

In the mountains one day he hiked,
Just having fun, doing what he liked.

He nibbled on some wild berries,
Had himself a delicious feast.
And then something extraordinary
occurred. He met a wild beast!

This thing was eight or nine feet tall
and covered with long brown hair.
Frozen with fear, he felt so small,
and his lungs were screaming for air.

This was Bigfoot, that much he knew,
So those tales of Sasquatch were true!

He fell on his knees with no more delay;
To an unknown God he began to pray.
'Save me from this beast! ' was his cry,
At which a loud voice boomed out of the sky:

'Why do you send up this piteous plea?
I thought that you didn't believe in Me! '

'Well, now I have become a believer.
I didn't believe in Bigfoot either! '

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Dedicated to my good friend, Bri Edwards, who claims not to believe in God.
(I don't know if he believes in Bigfoot or not.)

You should be honoured, Bri ... A rollicking good verse that is effortless to read Being an Atheist involves your intelligence come in to use so I'm not sure you qualify there but some of us are quite fond of you anyhow.

Now, take good note all you newbies: this is how you rhyme your verses. It must sound like you hardly put any effort into it! Making it also fun and clever like this one, well now, that's a tougher fish to fry.

I wondered where that photo of my second wife, taken on our wedding day, went.

gads! ! ! ! a treasure trove for me to delve into another day. i make reference to your poet's notes, kind sir. i have just started to read Old Bri Meets...... perhaps you meant Virile Bri Meets.....? ? my little one-stanza guess at how your poem might run was 'close' to how yours starts out! i live in Bigfoot Country, northern California, home to Redwood and other trees on many hills on either side of route 101. i had seen carvings representing Bigfoot but i'd yet to have the pleasure of meeting him, ...until recently. ok, to finish the poem and get on with business! ok, done. the ending gave me a chuckle. yes, i didn't really believe in either, till that fateful day. now that i've met Bigfoot [and shared a few beers with him; he is rather personable] i DO believe in him. i'm still, however waiting for a face-to-face meeting with God. i was just kidding when i pretended to pray. i was trying to distract the beast. he, Bigfoot aka Sasquatch, thought it quite hilarious and gave me a great big Bigfoot hug. bri ;) i read Wes Vogler's comment. i didn't realize he was fond of me. then again, he may not have been including himself in the some of us. hee- hee. bri :) of course this must go to MyPoemList. and, though you, Kim, rarely, if ever, have offered your works for one of my/our showcases on my site, you are welcome to have this one be in Feb.2017's showcase..............., not that many seem to read it! ! ! bri :)

You are welcome to include this one in the showcase for February. Nobody seems to be reading any of my stuff anymore, either.
