On My Way - Poem by Pilar Perez

More days go by and no work got done
That's nothing new here with the way my life's gone
Always putting me aside to keep up with other things
My stuff at the curb with only songs left to sing
Driving in my hot car and not hot by its looks
Singing along to my oldies while my girl does the hooks
Trying hard to relax and to sing to be less stressed
A quick ride to the east while driving fast through the west
Trying hard to keep smiling and her not knowing how I feel
The thought of bills, repairs and homework, my grip tightens to the wheel
With 'I love you's' exchanged along with 'Have a nice day'
I wave with a smile, look forward, then drive on my way
